Honeymoon Week One: Firenze, Italia

This is the River Arno, which runs through Firenze, Italia (Florence, Italy). The bridge in the foreground is the Ponte Vecchio, the only bridge to survive the Nazi invasion and now a venue for expensive jewerly shopping.
The large dome above and to the right is the Duomo. The tower to the far left is the Palazzo Vecchio. This medieval town, which remains miraculously intact, was home to Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Machiavelli, Dante, Galileo, and many others.

Firenze is surrounded by beautiful, green hills. This picture was taken from the same vantage point as the two pictures above.
This picture of Firenze at dusk was taken from the top of the Duomo. Although it is foggy, the street-level lights glow as the city's nightlife begins.

A representative picture of Firenze's architecture. Notice the crenelated building hiding behind the late 19th and early 20th Century buildings in the foreground.
The Loggia dei Lanzi features sculptures dating back to Roman times. The building to the left is the Palazzo Vecchio, and to its right is the Uffizi.
